Investor Newsletter #3 - September 2013

Welcome to our September 2013 General Finance quarterly newsletter. We appreciate your support. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you informed about the company and various financial matters that may interest you.

Prospectus
Our new prospectus has been registered and printed and our regular investors will by now have received a copy. It explains what we do and has a reasonably extensive profile of our directors. A summary of our financials, over the past five years, is included on page four. It makes comparing one year to the next, fairly straight forward. We urge you to read this and if you have any questions about our prospectus, please feel free to contact us.

Anti Money-Laundering Provisions
On 30 June 2013, new tough anti money-laundering provisions became law. The aim of this law is to stop any funds that may be used for the financing of terrorism or the proceeds of crime, tax evasion etc from being washed through the NZ financial system. Other countries have passed similar laws. What does it mean to investors such as you? When you deposit funds, either with us or any other financial institution, you will be required to produce one or two forms of identification such as a passport or a drivers licence and a bank card.  If you are acting on behalf of a company or a trust, further questions will be asked. It is time consuming and many will think it is of little relevance. It is the law now. When you are investing your money, it will take a little bit longer and a couple of extra pieces of paper confirming your identity must be provided.

Monthly Income Debentures
Most of our investors receive their interest on a quarterly basis. For those with more than $10,000 to invest, there is an option to receive your income on a monthly basis. This option may suit some investors who want a regular income - a bit like when they were working. It is something that we offer, unlike a number of our competitors.

Our Current Lending
Our lending business is currently steady and up on the corresponding period last year.  We are receiving more applications and the quality is high. Is the economy picking up? Probably not, but a few more people are doing things. The residential housing sector is currently strong in both Auckland and Christchurch. It is steady and recovering in most other areas. This is positive for a residential lender such as us.

Next Interest Payment
Our next quarterly interest payment will be made on the evening of Friday 27 September 2013. Direct credits will be processed that evening, with cheques (if applicable) and paperwork being forwarded during the week.

If you have any questions about your investment please do not hesitate to contact James Lockie on 09 526 7800 or by email to jlockie@general.co.nz.  Our website is www.general.co.nz.

If you want to invest more funds, you can obtain an investment statement and application form from Computershare Investor Services, our securities registrar.  Their freephone number is 0800 500 602.

Your continued support is appreciated.
